Vazaka, Eva-Chloe

Studio 10, Delta House Studios

I begin the exploration by writing a narrative without any other starting point but a glimpse of a mundane point of the ordinary, the everyday.

The narrative is exploring this moment in time and from it the first layer appears on the canvasses. I work on all the canvases simultaneously and that allows me to return to the text and work in it my discoveries from the first layer of the acrylic paints. The “dialogue” between the text and the painting will continue for several moments.

With time and observation, the “conversation” evolves and the project progresses. Layers of emotions are added to the canvas and words are taken off the narrative.

In time the project including the narrative and the images are far from were it began. The completion point is as arbitrary as the starting point and the reactions to it vary.

The point of absolute equilibrium is reached and the complete narrative and canvasses comprise the entirety of the project. The recognisable moment in time in the company of abstract forms that evoke a different reaction to each viewer.

I would not be able to pin point a moment in time when I made that decision. I have often though about that point but for me it probably does not exist. So it feels like I have been always been a visual artist. My source of inspiration is the mundane every day. I am intrigued by the narrative and by the transformation of emotions from one medium to another (The written word to the canvas and back).
