Mahrukh is a London based artist, who is inspired by geometry, colour and patterns in the natural world. She uses traditional methods, materials and discipline that have been brought down through a master- apprentice linage from the Ottoman, Persian and Mughal empires.
She has a special interest and specialises in the arts of the book, namely Mughal & Persian miniature painting and Ottoman manuscript illumination.
Mahrukh's work has been exhibited locally and internationally. She works on community outreach projects, offers workshops and is a visiting tutor at the Princes school of traditional arts.
